In preparing to make my first visit to Amsterdam (from the United States), this walking tour was one of the most anticipated activities I was looking forward to. I have been an Anne Frank fan since I was a kid, and the opportunity to see locations that were important to the individuals involved in the story of the Secret Annex was overwhelming. From seeing Margot and Anne’s schools, to the bookstore where the famous diary originated, to the pre-hiding residences of the van Pels and Frank families…every few steps brought our tour to a spot with an incredible story. Not only were the sites we visited incredibly fascinating (and moving), but our tour guide, Jeroen was better than I could have ever hoped. Not only was he incredibly knowledgeable about the lives of the individuals, but he illustrated the history of the area during World War II. He is a gifted storyteller, but he also makes the tour feel very personal; his tours have the feeling of a casual conversation. He is incredibly warm and welcoming as well as passionate about the topic. If you are only slightly familiar with the Frank family’s story, you will still enjoy this tour. But if you are a huge Anne Frank admirer like me, you simply MUST take this tour with Jeroen. You will NOT be disappointed. The next time I find myself back in Amsterdam, you can bet I’ll be signing up to do it again. - Ryan Cooper, St. Louis, Missouri, USA

My sister and I loved the Anne Frank walking tour yesterday (July 5, 2022) with Jeroen. Jeroen was so knowledgeable and my sister and I learnt so much. It was emotional to see where Anne grew up, and went about her life/school, and what should have been a normal childhood. It made the book diaries come alive in our imagination, you really felt close to her. And to see where her dad purchased her diary from was just incredible. I would highly recommend this tour, it’s in the open air, no queuing, it’s fascinating and it’s so real. We loved it!!! 10/10 Ms. K.A. Smith, Amsterdam (UK)

Thank you for the interesting Anne Frank Tour we were lucky to be part of a few weeks ago. We fully enjoyed the great insights our guide Jeroen Van Nes shared with us through a mix of historic anecdotes, personal memories and general information about Amsterdam. It certainly was a very insightful way to explore this amazing city! -Lorenz & Georgette Schmid, Switzerland (CH)

We took the Anne Frank Walking Tour with Jeroen and enjoyed it very much. His knowledge of the historical facts of the subject and the area, made the tour very interesting. We would not hesitate in recommending him as a tour guide to any future travelers and we would look you up again if we ever came to Amsterdam again. You met our expectations of this tour and more. Thank you, -Lorraine and Walter Kapko

Mr. van Nes’ tour was a highlight of our trip to Amsterdam. He is the perfect companion to a visit to the Anne Frank House. I have always wanted to see the places mentioned in her diary. I could not find such a reasonable tour until I stumbled on to his website. His communication was great and he met us at the tram stop. The 1.5 hour tour was very informative and much easier than trying to find those places on our own. I highly recommend it! -Christin Whitehead

My son (11) and I booked the walking tour with Mr van Nes on our short trip to Amsterdam. We wanted to get some insight into Anne Frank’s life before she and her family went into hiding. My son had learned about WWll at school and was eager to learn about the Dutch perspective as well. We were not disappointed. Mr van Nes is a very friendly man with lots of knowledge about WWll, the Jewish community in Amsterdam and Anne Frank in particular. You could tell that this was a subject close to his heart and he answered all our questions patiently and elaborately. He also showed us old pictures of places we visited with him which made a great impression on my son. The tour was interesting throughout and my son said that he learned a lot afterwards. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone interested in Anne Frank’s life in Amsterdam and it is also a beautiful walk through this impressive city away from the tourist crowds. -Ms. Stefanie Gaisser

Thank you ever so much for your excellent Anne Frank Walking Tour. We thoroughly enjoyed it. You have so much to offer because you grew up in the area and you explain all the fine details in good English as well. You also showed us some amazing photographs and pictures and literature you carry on you as a file. It was very fulfilling indeed. Keep up the good work. Kind regards. - Dr. and Mrs. Govender.

J.H., Amsterdam (Rivierenbuurt)

We highly recommend this tour. When you’re in a different city taking a tour there’s many things you look for and Jeroen van Nes certainly fulfilled everything and more we expected of a Tour Guide. We truly enjoyed the tour he gave us and he was extremely knowledgeable of the area not only giving us a lot of facts but willing to answer many of our questions along the way and truly knew much of the life of Anne Frank and carried with him a book of many fascinating pictures. The tour was not only informative but fun and if you have time restraints, he can adjust the length of the tour for you. Dear Jeroen, Thank you so much for the excellent tour on Sunday (October 16, 2022), for me and my mom Denise. We absolutely loved it, you are a fantastic guide and brought Anne Frank's story alive for us. I've just left a review on Trip Advisor, and we have shared your details with our friend Meg C., who is visiting Amsterdam in a few month's time with her family. Thank you again for a superb experience.

Thank you so much! Here's my review…(participated in the AFWT July 18, 2023) We had a wonderful tour with Jeroen. He has such a depth of knowledge and personal experience growing up in the neighborhood. He's so personable and a pleasure to spend time with! There were so many landmarks we would have completely missed on our own - connecting it all and seeing it in person drove home the reality, and tragedy, of Anne Frank's life during WWII. I completely recommend the tour for other's looking for more than simply visiting the Anne Frank house.
